Classroom Rules
1. Please be in school as much as possible. This is not a fun class to do make up work in
2. Please leave your book and workbook in my classroom in the designated area.
3. Be prepared for class to start--book, workbook, pencil, calculator, ruler......be an engaged learner.
4. If you use something in my room, please return it before you leave the room.
5. Simple manners are encouraged. Please don't talk when I am giving instructions.
6. Please be honest with me and do your own work......I do not like lying and/or cheating.
7. Ask questions if you don't understand something. I will help you.
8. Cell Phones are allowed to be used in class if you ask permission (ex. calculator)
9. Use your resources.....the book, the teacher, other students, students who have had Accounting, etc.
10. It is possible to learn and have fun at the same time. I would like you to try.....Northwest High School is awesome!
Course Description and Objectives
This course is for students who wish to extend their knowledge from Accounting.
A review of the accounting cycle using departmentalized businesses allows students to begin course
working with many topics from the previous year. (see course outline below)
Prerequisite(s): Accounting with a “B” average

1. Chapter 1—Recording Departmental Purchases and Cash Payments
2. Chapter 2—Recording Departmental Sales and Cash Receipts
3. Chapter 3—Calculating and Recording Departmental Payroll Data
4. Chapter 4—Financial Reporting For a Departmentalized Business
5. Chapter 5—A Voucher System
6. Chapter 6—Inventory Planning and Valuation
7. Chapter 7—Accounting For Uncollectible Accounts
8. Chapter 8—Accounting For Plant Assets
9. Chapter 9—Accounting For Notes Payable, Prepaid Expenses, and Accrued Expenses
10. Chapter 10—Accounting For Notes Receivable, Unearned Revenue, and Accrued Revenue
11. Chapter 11—Organizing A Corporation and Paying Dividends
12. Chapter 12—Acquiring Additional Capital For a Corporation
